At the end of last softball season, College Sports Evaluation created a method of making All-American selections based solely on objective data with the aim of highlighting athletes who deserve to be highlighted, regardless of where they attend school. The only factor considered in the All-American selections is in-game data analyzed by CSE’s Data & Analytics Team.
The CSE All-American rankings are based on FIP (pitching) and wRAA (offense) and are adjusted to account for strength of schedule. As there are many more games to be played, CSE has taken this into account by utilizing prediction algorithms to project these metrics to the end of the season, based on a standard 50-game schedule. The numbers shown are all projected numbers for the end of the 2024 regular season, utilizing data as of 3/28/24.
The players selected had the best-projected numbers for the end of the season.
Jenna Golembiewski – OF – Miami (OH)
Golembiewski is the front runner to take home the CSE Run-Contributor of the year while being projected to hold the record of the highest wRAA number since CSE began collecting data on college athletes — 64.02. She currently leads the division in most power categories including RBI (62), homeruns (24), and slugging percentage (1.252). Jenna utilizes her short but powerful approach and can use all parts of the field for power. She has led the Lady Redhawks to a 28-6 record, top 40 RPI standing, and is a focal point on the NCAA leaders in team home runs at 100. Golembiewski and Miami (OH) look poised to not only win the MAC but also make some noise at regionals this spring.
NiJaree Canady – P – Stanford
NiJaree is currently the leading candidate to take home her second consecutive CSE Pitcher of the Year award while holding the FIP crown at a breathtaking .629. She leads all of division 1 softball in most other pitching categories and is arguably the frontrunner to take home the pitching data triple crown. This includes metrics, where she is also the current leader, such as FIP, K/7, and WHIP. Canady features an elite combination of velocity and vertical movement that has helped her earn a swing and miss on 31% of ALL swings of the bat against her, according to an aggregation of data taken from Stanford games on the NCAA website. Canady and the Stanford Cardinal are primed to make another deep run in the WCWS.
College Sports Evaluation’s Data & Analytics Team has compiled, analyzed, and ranked in-game data for every athlete in the Transfer Portal. Get clear insights into athletes that have currently been competing at the D1 or D2 level (other division levels coming soon).
The CSE College Coach Portal is a platform built for college coaches to search, filter, securely save, and track the progress of the data on college rosters, prospect camps, athletes in the Transfer Portal, and any other youth athlete in the CSE database.
